Personal Response

I truly enjoyed watching this movie. It was dynamic, entertaining, fast-paced, and super engaging. I loved the cohesiveness between the movie title, the plot, the soundtrack, everything felt like you were literally running. It was a really strong production. This movie is almost like a German version of The Butterfly Effect, and now that I think about it, it could easily be a Black Mirror episode. It really demonstrates how one tiny change can affect your entire destiny. Is that true in real life? Maybe. Every little decision and action builds who we are and where we end up.

My favorite part of the movie was when Lola realizes she has control over her destiny and that she’s going to get the money no matter what. To me, that represents the power of desire and manifestation, when you know something is already yours and you just need to find the vehicle to receive it. That’s exactly what happens with the casino scene. She knows the money is hers, and the universe just rearranges itself to make it happen. Meanwhile, everything else is working out too: her boyfriend finds the bag, and suddenly they don’t even need the money anymore. It becomes unimportant. The real gift of life is that they both end up alive and happy.

But one final thought: why would Manni give his gun to the homeless guy? Is that stupidity or trust in humanity? He could have easily been killed. Maybe he just believed that wasn’t his destiny. Gun or no gun, he wasn’t going to die that day, so it didn’t matter.

Another moment that stayed with me was the conversation Lola has with Manni when they’re lying down and she asks him why he loves her. Is he really in love with Lola, or is he in love with the idea of his girlfriend? As Jesse mentioned, is this actual love or just convenient love because they’re already together? This got me thinking about all relationships in general. Are they genuine love, or are they simply convenience? Would my boyfriend love any girlfriend he has? If not, then why me? What’s so special about me? These questions really stayed with me, and I think it’s amazing when a movie has the power to keep you awake at night thinking about your own life.
